Boys, 14 and 16, injured in Humboldt Park shooting, police say

A 14-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy were injured in a shooting Wednesday night on the Northwest Side, according to Chicago police.

About 11:35 p.m., the boys were found outside with gunshot wounds in the 1000 block of North Springfield Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. One of them told police that a male wearing all black came up to them and fired shots toward them.

The 14-year-old boy was shot in the right shoulder and the 16-year-old boy was shot in the right thigh, police said. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

No arrests have been made, police said. The shooting is under investigation.
